And we're off!

After months of beta testing alongside rental hosts, the time has finally come to make our offering available to the masses.

We gathered an incredible amount of feedback from hosts and guests alike and our learnings excite us to share our service with other hosts!

What does the data say?

Over 30% of guests mentioned their snack boxes in their review and 70% of guests thanked the host directly. 93% of our hosts’ guests left reviews.

93% – that’s huge! Especially considering that in 2012, Brian Chesky, CEO and Co-Founder of Airbnb said that only 70% of guests leave their host a review.

Today, many experts believe that average is much lower due to consumer behavior around reviews and expectations.

Think about purchases you’ve made on Amazon. If a product completely wows you, you’ll probably leave a 5 star review. If a product greatly disappoints you, you’ll probably leave a 1 star review. For all the products that “met expectations,” chances are you decided not to take the time to leave a review at all.

In other words, even though Airbnb does a good job of prodding guests to leave reviews after their stay, it still takes a truly memorable experience to get the vast majority to do so.

There’s a “surprise and delight” factor at play for guests receiving snack boxes. Guests have told us that they consider their vacation rental hosts have gone above and beyond after they receive snack boxes, which leads to a more memorable and enjoyable stay.

Snack boxes can help you level up

Today it is more important than ever that hosts level up their offerings. Guest expectations are rising, fewer guests are leaving reviews and competition is stiffer than ever.

There are more than 4 million hosts on Airbnb, a number that continues to grow. Over 14,000 new hosts are joining the platform each month.

Obviously there are many factors at play when it comes to positive guest experiences — cleanliness, simple check in, comfort, parking, other amenities, etc. Snack boxes won’t guarantee you receive all 5 star reviews from all of your guests, but our data clearly shows it does help motivate guests to think about you more — especially when it comes time to leave a reviews.
